Hiker Rescue
Calistoga, Napa County
On 1/6, Napa SAR responded to
a call to assist a stranded hiker near Oat Hill Mines.
Hiker had been out during the day but unable to return
under own power before night fell. SAR teams hiked about
8 miles in and provided medical assistance and escorted
hiker to trailhead. SAR teams were out for approximately
5 hrs.

Mock Search Exercise
Skyline Park, Napa
On 1/20, Napa SAR held a mock
search exercise for the Explorer Team. Adult team members
also participated. Search was conducted at Los Posadas
Park. Two subjects were found with one carry out mission
conducted. ATV, Canine and Track teams all participated.
Aerosquadron also participated providing aerial search
patterns.

On 1/25, Napa SAR held a GPS
mapping exercise to run trails in Skyline park. Explorers
and Adult team members participated. Four teams were
assigned and IC was set up and run from SAR trailer.

On 4/3, Napa SAR responded to
a mutual aid search for a 40 yo missing hiker near Guernville.
While enroute, Sonoma teams located missing hiker. Napa
SAR cancelled response.

on standby for missing 7 yo last seen walking dog. SAR
alert cancelled after youth located by patrols in area.

On 4/12, Napa SAR responded to
a missing 85 yo Alzheimer patient who recently moved
into area. Teams participated in assignments for the
first and second operational periods. Search was cancelled
after clues suggested subject was no longer in the area.

a mutual aid search for a missing 32 yo subject reported
missing since previous day. SAR team responded with
ground searchers and ATVs. SAR response was cancelled
enroute when Marin SAR confirmed subject was found.

On 6/7, Napa SAR responded to
Project Lifesaver call for a missing youth at risk who
was wearing a Project Lifesaver identifier. SAR team
was cancelled after youth was located at the local shopping
center by ACPD.

American Canyon
On 6/8, Napa SAR responded to
search for two missing juveniles who had wandered off
from local subdivision into wetlands area. Missing persons
were located by H-30 enroute to returning home. SAR
response was cancelled after it was confirmed that the
youth had been located.

put on alert for a grass fire in the Dry Creek area.
Fire was contained to several acres. Team was not activated.

Missing Person Search
Lake Berryessa, Napa County
On 6/14, Napa SAR responded to
search for an at-risk adult reported missing by family
members. Hasty teams were deployed at the PLS. Search
was suspended after deputies were able to locate subject
via cell phone and it was determined there was no emergency.

Lake Berryessa, Napa County
On 6/29, Napa SAR responded to
search for a missing adult in the Knoxville area. Person
had been part of a ballooning crew and was separated
from party when trying to return to vehicle. SAR teams
were cancelled enroute when subject was able to self-rescue.

Atlas Peak
On 7/11, Napa SAR was activated
for a possible evacuation of homes on Atlas Peak due
to a wildland fire. SAR was recalled after fire was
contained and homes no longer threatened.

Missing Person Search
St Helena
On 7/23, Napa SAR responded to
a search for a missing autistic juvenile who had wandered
off in the area of Napa Valley College in St Helena.
Initial hasty search was conducted with assistance from
St Helena Fire, Police, and Sheriff's Academy. SAR activated
call for mutual aid 4 hrs into search. Contra Costa
SAR took over command of second operational period.
Subject was located in good shape on the morning of
7/24 and required extrication from difficult area.

Joint CARDA/SAR Exercise
Timbercove Ranch, Sonoma County
SAR participated
in a CARDA exercise providing communications support,
teaching survival class, and providing search subjects.
APRS was tested again with limited success in heavily
wooded area. Training was a huge success with approximately
80 in attendance.

American Canyon
SAR Command
was notified of missing 73 yo adult who had walked away
from care facility. Mission person was a Project Lifesaver
client. Deputies responded and were able to locate subject
via PL tracking within 20 minutes.

neighborhoods in Antioch. Subject was found alive and
well in the early afternoon and teams were recalled

exercise with the Aerosquadron. Weather challenges changed
the program to be ground based. Project Lifesaver training
was substituted the last half of the day.

search in American Canyon. Subject had gone missing
earlier in the day and was at risk. Team were deployed
to check PLS and areas subject had know to frequent.
Deputies located child and search teams were recalled
